Jez Insalaco is a queer Japanese-American costume designer, technician, costumer, and fine artist based in the Boston area. She is passionate about creating with color and designing work that is for and by people of color! She hopes to create images through her design that are diverse and beautiful and to empower those who see themselves in her work.
She is a costume design member of United Scenic Artists 829 as well as a costumer in Local 481 Studio Mechanics. She has had the pleasure of working on many of the union film & television productions shot in the New England area in recent years, such as Good Burger 2, Spirited, Don’t Look Up, Christmas on Ice, NOS4A2 S2, Defending Jacob. She graduated from Emerson College with a B.F.A. in Theatre Design/Technology with a concentration in Costume Design.
